Collins Obijiaku (b. 1995), a self-taught painter born in Kaduna, Nigeria, currently living and working in Suleja, near Abuja. Known for his deeply felt portraits of Black subjects who gaze directly at the viewer, demanding engagement. He frequently uses a mix of oil, acrylic, and charcoal on wood panels to create textured works with intricate line work. His work often explores the socio-economic backgrounds and emotional states of his subjects, many of whom are people close to him or strangers he meets. His work has been exhibited internationally in New York, London, Lagos, and Accra.
